mutant ice cream

here's something i'm working on.
for my covers and pages class (we make comics and the like) this is a cover design showing some sort of action - something that has just happened or is about to happen. i don't really know where the idea for this came from but i've been wanting to do more horror type stuff lately and couldn't come up with any good ideas involving ghosts so i made this. ha. the park in the background is overton park in memphis, my hometown - which has its fair share of urban legends and ghost stories associated with it.
color version coming soon...seeing as it's due tomorrow.

oh yeah, go follow my art tumblr.

sleigh bells for rolling stone

the assignment was to utilize collage to make a cover for either time or rolling stone. the content of the cover was up to us as long as it was current to today.
since sleigh bells just released their second album and it's been pretty well received i decided it would be appropriate for them to be my subject matter. they were also on the cover of spin and guests on saturday night live.
here it is with the mock up text:
it's really vibrant for me but i'm pretty happy with the turn out.

i made this around a year ago for my friend kirstie as a tattoo design. she has the original, but i am going to revisit this drawing and make a tour poster for my chem for a class thing. stay tuned, i'm pretty excited about it. might even silkscreen it.

i'm also working on concepts for posters for bright eyes, bjork, la dispute, and WHY?
